Brooklyn Rewilders Junior Naturalists' Field Day - THURSDAY June 4th 9-3pm
Anniversary Day Nature Camp
Date: Thursday, June 4th
Grades: Mixed-age PreK-5th
Meet: 9:00 am at the children's entrance to Central Library on Eastern Parkway.
Pickup: Grand Army Plaza, 3:00 pm
Optional aftercare: PS 9 Garden, 3:00–5:00 pm — add separately to your cart
A whole day in the living world
June 4th and 5th — public schools are out. We're spending both days outside.
We start the morning at the library with field guides and one question: what do you most want to find today? Then we head out into two of Brooklyn's most extraordinary outdoor spaces — Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park, right next to each other.
On June 4th we go to BBG first, spending the heart of the day moving slowly through the gardens, looking carefully at what's alive and in bloom. Then Prospect Park for lunch on the grass and free play before pickup at Grand Army Plaza at 3:00 pm.
Each child gets their own nature journal for the day — for drawing, writing, or just pressing a flower. Educators help the little ones. We move slowly, look carefully, and follow what's alive.
What We'll Do
📚 Brooklyn Central Library — We start with the field guides. Kids choose what they most want to look for today. Everyone leaves with something to hunt for.
🌿 Brooklyn Botanic Garden — Native bees, butterflies, birds, and plants in full early summer bloom. One of the best places in the city for slow, careful looking. Lunch in the garden.
🌳 Prospect Park — Time to run, climb, and play before pickup.
🌱 PS 9 Garden aftercare, 3:00–5:00 pm (optional) — A quieter end to the day. Kids dig, explore, make art with natural materials, and have free time in the garden.
What to Bring
Packed lunch and a full water bottle
Weather-appropriate clothes with an extra layer — early June can surprise you
Comfortable closed-toe shoes (no sandals)
Hat and sunscreen applied before arrival
Brooklyn Rewilders provides field guides, nature journals, snacks, and all materials.
Registering for both days or adding aftercare? Add each item to your cart before checking out — you'll complete one form per day and pay once.
