The Brooklyn Rewilders impact Fund:

Brooklyn Rewilders addresses the crisis of nature deficit facing urban children who rarely have opportunities to plant, grow, and get their hands in rich, healthy soil. Through hands-on garden education, we teach children that they ARE nature, building ecological literacy and systems thinking that will shape how they interact with the world as adults.

We operate both in-school programming (reaching all students grades 3K-5th) and after-school programs that combine indigenous wisdom like the Honorable Harvest with STEAM learning. Children plant native seedlings, make garden pesto from edible "weeds," press fresh apple cider, and become advocates for ecological practices in their neighborhoods.

With public school budget cuts eliminating enrichment programming and families facing financial struggles, many children lack access to meaningful environmental education.

Current Reach & Potential:

  • Currently serving 670+ children

  • Potential to reach 2,000+ children

  • Each school partnership brings ecological literacy to entire grade levels 3K-5th

Your donations are essential to unlock this potential:

  • Scale Up In-School Education: Fund programming expansion to reach thousands more students

  • Remove Financial Barriers: Provide sliding-scale and full scholarships for after-school families

  • Support Quality Educators: Ensure year-round thriving wages, training, and professional development

  • Steward Learning Spaces: Maintain and develop school gardens where children learn

  • Community Rewilding: Launch projects including a native food forest in Bed Stuy and replicate accessible food abundance (like PS9's beloved berry and fig food fence) throughout Brooklyn

  • Curriculum Development: Create replicable programming for broader impact

Without adequate funding, we cannot pay educators fairly, expand to serve more schools, or provide scholarships to families who need them most. With full funding, we can transform how thousands of Brooklyn children understand their place in the living world.

We're growing future decision-makers who will design regenerative rather than extractive solutions for tomorrow's challenges.

Brooklyn Rewilders is proud to operate under fiscal sponsorship with Do Good Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) public-benefit charity (EIN 85-4368754).
