  • Gardening & Cooking at PS 133 in Gowanus

Our afterschool program blends urban ecology and food education into hands-on, joyful experiences. Students learn directly from our school garden and neighborhood community gardens, exploring the cycles of nature while cultivating plants, composting, and harvesting seasonal foods. In the kitchen, children practice simple, healthy food preparation with ingredients they’ve grown or sourced locally, connecting what’s on their plate to the ecosystems around them.

Through gardening, cooking, and teamwork, students build ecological awareness, kitchen confidence, and a sense of belonging to both their school and neighborhood community.

  • Gardening & Cooking at PS 282 in Park Slope

Your child becomes a scientist, chef, artist, and explorer in PS 282's garden every Wednesday until 5:15pm.

We blend Story Time with hands-on Garden Adventures - planting seeds, using magnifying glasses, and discovering tiny worlds in real soil. Cooking Fun turns learning into tasty treats like "soil parfaits" and garden pesto that kids actually want to eat. Nature Art develops fine motor skills through leaf crowns, fairy houses, and seasonal crafts.

Small groups ensure individual attention for different attention spans. Siblings welcome - we run programs for multiple age groups simultaneously. Rain or cold? We have pop-up tents and backup indoor space.

Starting September 17th. Limited spots available.

  • Nature Makers Lab at the United Makers Clubhouse in Bed-Stuy.

In Nature Makers Lab, kids dive into the wonders of life science through hands-on exploration. From studying bugs and habitats to sculpting plants and animals in clay, young scientists connect art and ecology in creative ways. Students also tend our indoor hydroponic garden, harvesting fresh veggies for daily snacks while learning how ecosystems thrive.
