Acknowledgment of Risk and Waiver

Brooklyn Rewilders Junior Naturalist Field Weeks are an outdoor program. Children walk city streets, spend their days in parks and gardens, climb on trees, rocks, and logs, and travel by subway to a museum. These activities carry inherent risks, including uneven ground, weather, insects and plants, physical activity, and being in public spaces and on public transit. Brooklyn Rewilders supervises the program at ratios above the state minimum and follows a written safety plan, but no program can remove every risk.

By registering my child, I confirm that:

  • I understand these risks and choose to enroll my child.

  • The information I provide in the enrollment and health forms is accurate, and I will update staff if anything changes.

  • I have disclosed any condition that affects my child's participation.

  • I authorize Brooklyn Rewilders staff to obtain emergency medical care for my child, including calling 911, if I cannot be reached.

  • I agree to the Junior Naturalist Code of Conduct and the refund policy.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless Brooklyn Rewilders, Inc., its staff, and its volunteers from claims arising out of the ordinary risks of participation. This does not release Brooklyn Rewilders from injury caused by its own negligence, and it does not waive any right that cannot be waived under New York law.

Refund Policy

Spaces are limited, and we plan our staffing, materials, and snacks around each child who enrolls, so registration is non-refundable.

That said, life happens. If you let us know at least a week in advance, we will do our best to accommodate you, whether that means moving your child to the other week or working out another solution together.

If your plans change, reach out as early as you can: brooklynrewilders@gmail.com.
